Allison and Tim's Boston Public Library Micro-Wedding

Recently, someone asked me, " What's the difference between an elopement and a micro-wedding?" The term elopement used to mean just two people, but it's expanded to mean a handful (or two!) of close family and friends. And that's exactly what Allison and Tim did for their wedding day at the Boston Public Library, inside the Guastavino Room. absolutely beautiful.

If you don't know, the Boston Public Library offers one-hour wedding packages for up to twelve guests, not including your officiant and photographer. It's become incredibly popular in the last few years, but you can still snag a spot with careful planning. More on that below.

Planning your Boston Public Library Wedding

So you want to elope at the Boston Public Library. Now what?!

Price:

$200

What you get:

One hour of exclusive access to the Guastavino Room, a non-denominational wedding ceremony space at the Boston Public Library, plus twelve chairs for guests and ceremony décor. It's a stunning room with a loft library, stone fireplace, and plenty of spots for ceremony photos, family photos, and couple's photos after you tie the knot. Note that you only get one photographer, which is plenty for this kind of intimate elopement. Your officiant and photographer do not count towards your allotted twelve guests.

Things to note:

Food and beverages aren't allowed, and you must keep your photos to the McKim Building, Copley Square, and the Guastavino Room. Photos are not allowed within the rest of the Boston Public Library or the courtyard without an additional permit. You can find more on that permit here.

Why the Boston Public Library is the perfect spot for your elopement or micro-wedding:

The Boston Public Library is such a gorgeous, historical venue, with access to the heart of downtown Boston. For Allison and Tim's wedding, we were able to make use of the Guastavino Room for their couple photos and group photos, before heading into the iconic downtown Boston area and capturing their walk from Copley Square over to where their reception was at Abe & Louie's. (by the way, the chocolate cake at Abe and Louie's is incredible. Please have a slice for me!)

Want to get married at the Boston Public Library?

First, you'll want to inquire on their website and book your date. All of that information can be found here.

Elopements are the first Monday of each month and can be booked 90 days in advance, but no later than fourteen days before the ceremony. Once you have your date, it's time to put together your vendor list! Hopefully, that includes me as your photographer. :)

How stunning are these photos at the top of the Guastavino room?

The loft inside the Guastavino Room is one of my favorite features.

Access to Downtown Boston & COpley Square

After their ceremony, Allison and Tim made their way to their reception dinner at Abe and Louie's. The walk through Copley Square and Downtown Boston is lovely, especially in the warmer months, so we had lots of great photo opps. These are some of my favorites from their Boston Public Library elopement and their reception dinner in downtown Boston!
